International artists to dominate Vanuatu’s Zion Fest 2016

This year’s Zion Fest, to be staged on Sunday October 12 as the finale of the Fest’Napuan music festival, will have a different format to previous years.

Organisers say in previous years the Zion Fest featured a large number of different local and international artists performing from late afternoon until nearly midnight,

But, this year the event will start with a fashion parade in the mid-afternoon and end with a three-hour concert from US band Christafari. 

Other international artists confirmed in this year’s Zion Fest line-up include Eagles Wings (Fiji), Jah N I (Solomon Islands) and Soldiers for Christ (PNG).

Zion Fest is the last segment of the biggest annual event of music festival with over 40,000 people in attendance.

The music festival takes place each evening over a span of five days, starting with local “string band” music on Wednesday, October 12; contemporary music consisting of diverse genres including reggae, hip-hop, folk and rock from Thursday to Saturday on October 13 – 15 ending with religious themed music, Zion Fest, on Sunday October 16.

The theme of Fest’Napuan 2016 is “Independence in the Pacific: What we have achieved and what we are still fighting for.”
