Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Bob Loughman Weibur and Leader of Opposition, Ralph Regenvanu have applauded the frontline workers, who are continuing the fight to keep everyone safe from COVID-19.
Regenvanu showed his appreciation in his remarks when responding to the address of the Head of State, Moses Tallis, during the First Ordinary Session of Parliament.
“The country depends on you to keep everyone safe and you have been doing a good job since the global pandemic outbreak until today.”
PM Loughman also commended frontline workers for their tremendous effort of keeping the virus out of the country so far despite facing criticisms and challenges.
Front-liners include health workers, border control officers, staff from Air Vanuatu Limited and terminal services, quarantine facility staff, public transport drivers, police, security officers including the COVID-19 Advisory and Taskforce.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vanuatu has reported three cases of COVID-19, all of which have been detected in quarantine.
There has been no community transmission.
The roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign is earmarked for next month.
