BSP kicks off Amicale Soccer Sevens registration

A 10 week Community Football Program supported by Bank South Pacific (BSP) Vanuatu Ltd in partnership with the Digicel Amicale Football Club will give an opportunity for young football enthusiast to showcase their skills

The Amicale football program is named, BSP Football Sevens League and organised to encourage development and recognition new talents for sport in Vanuatu.

The country has seen encouraging results, after the Vanuatu A grade senior men’s team participated in the Football O League games.

BSP’s Head of Retail and Marketing, Moana Korikalo said, “The event is also established to encourage community participation and parental engagement, and is tailored around teams of seven combining both girls and boys.”

The BSP Soccer Sevens League will kick off on Saturday 29th April 2017 where organisers expect 350 players participating across all age groups.

Ms Korikalo added, “BSP is pleased to be supporting this event as naming sponsors. Our support goes in line with the organisations core value of community and supporting junior sport development in Vanuatu.”

The competition is currently open for registration and invites children between the ages 5-16 years to play football in an organised friendly competition held every Saturday morning at Antoine Rossie Field.

Registrations can be done on Saturday mornings at the Antoine Rossie Field from 8:00am. The registrations fee is Vt20,000 per team or Vt1000 per child for the full season of 10 weeks. Individual players are also welcome to register into teams competing in the competition.

Ms Korikalo added, “The theme of the competition is based on RESPECT, encouraging self-esteem and self-worth, the BSP principle values we support.

She further welcomed Community groups, parents or clubs to register their own teams to participate.
