Vanuatu and Venezuela establish diplomatic relations

Vanuatu and Venezuela have signed a joint communique to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.

A statement said the governments of both countries guided by mutual desire to initiate and develop ties of friendship and cooperation between the two States in political, economic, cultural, technical and in any other fields on the common agreement have decided to establish diplomatic relations as of the date of the signing of this joint communiqué on the basis of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations 18th April 1961.

The relation between the two States will be based on the principles and rules of the Charter of the United Nations and International law, particularly, equality among the States, respect for their independence, national sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interferer in the internal affairs of the States.

The statement said both governments are convinced that the establishment of diplomatic relations between them corresponds to the interest of the two States and contribute to the consolidation and cooperation among them and peace in the world.

The joint communique was signed by Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, Venezuela’s Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs and Bruno Leingkone, Vanuatu’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Foreign Trade on Margarita Island in Venezuela .
