Interns engaged with implementation of MSP project in Vanuatu

The Department of Foreign Affairs, through its Maritime & Ocean’s Affairs Division has engaged three interns to be part of a multi-sector team tasked with the implementation of Vanuatu’s Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) project.

The internship is part of efforts to build human resource capacity and strengthen partnership and coordination with key oceans stakeholders, the

Japheth Taure has been nominated by the Department of Fisheries, Hellentos Tosusu nominated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Charles Tari Mahuri nominated by the Department of Geology and Mines.

They will provide support to the MSP project, and additionally bridge the project with the key institutions they represent to facilitate information flow and partnership.

Two other interns will join the MSP team soon to further strengthen the implementation of the project.

The Acting Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Sanlan William officiated the signing of contracts with the three interns in the presence of the MSP team and the Head of the Maritime & Oceans Affairs Division Toney Tevi.

To the interns, Acting Director Williams stated, “You are all fortunate to have been drafted into this team and you will all benefit immensely from the project and the existing capacity and wealth of experience within the Maritime & Ocean’s Affairs Division.”

Acting Director Williams further advised, “be assured, you will be made to work hard so you will all have to commit yourselves to deliver.”

The MSP Project is funded by the Government of Italy and is implemented by the Maritime and Oceans Affairs Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
