
The Acting commissioner of Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) Colonel Robson Iavro, officially launched the operation India Alpha at the Police Head Quarter, Vansec House in Port Vila.
Colonel Iavro encouraged all VPF Officers to perform their duties with a high standard of integrity during the Independence Day celebration in Port Vila.
“No officer shall consume alcohol while performing his or her duties during this Independence Celebration. If any officer is found under the Influence of alcohol while performing their policing duties, they will be accountable for their actions,” he said.
Iavro acknowledged all the officers for their commitment to their work places.
He stated that it is not easy to handle policing duties.
The recent operations have reflected commitments and performance of officers and their commanders.
Iavro also wished all VPF officers and their families happy independence celebrations and he also encouraged officers to spend time with their family if they are not on duty.
The Republic of Vanuatu, which was known as New Hebrides until its independence, celebrates its Independence Day on July 30 to commemorate its freedom from the British and French rule in 1980.
This year Vanuatu is celebrating 39 years of freedom.
