The Vanuatu Basketball Federation has released its final list for the women's and men's 3x3 national teams, that will participate in 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa next month.
National coach Sacha Duthu says after the China trip last month, they are now back in camp for intensive training.
“Two days after that we touched down to Port-Vila, we trained in the morning, and everyone was still hungry to train.
"The recent trainings have been outstanding ones in terms of how intense and how focuses we are on to train" the French native added. "We are on time in our preparations, we have two more weeks in Vila before flying to Apia on July 2nd" said Duthu.
The recent 3x3 Asia Cup men's roster, comprised of Riki David, Manoah Moli, Jared Ova and Rickie Vira Tambeqwaru.
The top 3x3 seeded team to feature in the competition, will try to confirm the progress that was put on the floor a month ago in Changsha (China) at the 2019 3x3 Asia Cup.
It built confidence and motivation to train more because I know there’s a lot more to put in trainings in order to get to another step," Moli said.
"Even though we lost all our games, I know every team have to start somewhere and it’s good to know what we should focus and work on" he added. "After coming back from China, I know my team mates have built self-confidence on themselves.
The boys have confidence in themselves and I know they are ready for this Pacific Games. I believe in my team mates and I know we’ll make a great result out there," he said.
In the women's side, Jessie Malverus, Pauline Malanga and Nancy Patterson are back.
Amilia Kasten will make her first appearance on the international stage with the team.
Both teams will be ranked as #1 team in their respective competitions.
After a 6-team pool round robin games, the 4 top ranked teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
The Pacific Games will be held in Samoa from 7-20 July.
