Vanuatu's Prime Minister Charlot Salwai has held bilateral talks with his New Zealand counterpart Jacinda Ardern in Wellington today.
Mr Salwai is making his second official visit to New Zealand with a government delegation that includes Vanuatu's Minister of Internal Affairs, Andrew Napuat.
Prior to the bilateral talks, Mr Salwai said Vanuatu greatly valued its strategic partnership with New Zealand's government as an important development partner and a genuine friend.
"My visit to New Zealand this week is to reinforce the partnership and commitment to work together with the New Zealand government and to address our common development challenges such as climate change among other development priorities."
Mr Salwai said the potential for co-operation between Vanuatu and New Zealand was far from exhausted.
He said the two countries had common development aspirations and challenges, and praised their history of development co-operation
"Our strategic partnership has brought many benefits to ni-Vanuatu, and it is far from exhausting its potential. We have been seeing an increase in New Zealand multi-sectoral support to Vanuatu as a result of its (Pacific) reset policy initiative."
Mr Salwai said he was impressed by the insights gained on tourism from his delegation's visit to Queenstown yesterday.
This afternoon his delegation is due to visit two Wellington-based coffee houses, which import Vanuatu coffee.
