The communities and people of Tevauli Aut village on Paama island in Vanuatu will soon benefit from a new evacuation centre.
The project which is supported by Pacific Pathways is currently under construction.
Tevauli is a remote village inland on Paama island which was totally destroyed by Cyclone Pam in 2015.
Residents had to relocate to a nearby village and stay there until their houses were rebuilt.
Members of the greater Tevauli Aut community who live in Port Vila and on Santo raised funds for the new evacuation centre.
Pacific Pathways said the project is progressing well with the foundation in place and walls are almost completed.
“We will return to Paama in June to help put up the roof and complete the building.”
The New Zealand High Commission and Rotary NZ World Community Service also raised funds to complete the building.
