Fijians living in Port Vila, Vanuatu joined with their Ni-Van brothers and sisters to remember those who lost their lives during the height of Category 5, Tropical Cyclone Winston.
The special hour long service led by Pastor Bessie Fong included a reading on facts of the damage TC Winston had produced.
Participants also observed a minute of silence to remember the 44 victims of TC Winston as well as the 11 victims of Cat 5 TC Pam last year.
Fiji’s Honorary Consul to Vanuatu, Mr. Charles Valentine also offered a word of thanks.
The service ended and light refreshments were served before everyone ended up departing for their respective homes.
A fundraising appeal in Vanuatu raised about Vt2.5 million or equivalent to F$50,000 for cyclone relief work in Fiji.
