The Vanuatu National Statistics Office (VNSO), in collaboration with the Statistics for Development Division (SDD) of the SPC, conducted a workshop on Data Communications and infographics basics.
The three-day workshop late last month was attended by VNSO stakeholders including Health, Agriculture, Police, Civil registration, NDMO and others, particularly data producers to ensure that they can take their data into another level of dissemination.
Inforgraphics prove to be the recent trend for disseminating key messages and ensuring that users understand the statistical information better.
They help to simplify a complicated subject into a captivating experience, visually engaging and appealing to target audience.
Participants learn how to think about data and the visual communication of data; how to conceptualize an infographic that reinforces your message; and how to make your infographic-design easily understood by a wider audience.
The above idea fits in perfectly with the introduction of the National Strategy for Development of Statistics (NSDS) where focus has been made in the development of the Statistical System at different levels of the government activities that monitors and measures the development priorities of the country.
Participants were able to produce a wide variety of posters as outputs that can be used in various occasions including meetings, workshops, trainings, awareness and many more.
A more advanced workshop will be conducted later this year
